What is a veneer?

What to expect when getting a veneer

- If you choose to proceed, the doctor will remove about half a millimeter of enamel from the front of your teeth and take a mold of the area, to make sure your new veneers will fit perfectly.
- When the veneers are ready, the doctor will cement them in place.
- Once your veneers are completed, you may need one or more follow-up appointments to make sure they’re looking, feeling, and functioning the way you want.
What makes someone a good candidate for veneers?
Veneers may be right for you if:
- Your teeth are basically healthy. You don’t need significant work done to stop decay or correct function-altering alignment issues.
- You’re hoping for a dramatic change in your smile’s appearance, beyond what standard whitening treatments can offer.
- You are comfortable with having your veneers redone every 7-15 years. Veneers are not permanent and are also not reversible, so maintaining them is a lifelong, if infrequent, commitment.
- You are open to procedures not covered by dental insurance.
